About Kasba Green
Our Story
Perched where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, Tangier has charmed travellers for centuries. A city of writers, artists and adventurers — from Ibn Battuta to Paul Bowles — it has long been a crossroads between Europe and Africa, its port and white houses gazing across the strait toward Spain.
Rising above the medina, the Kasbah is the oldest part of Tangier. Within its ramparts lie the Sultan's palace — now the Kasbah Museum — the rambling Dar el Makhzen, and a tangle of alleys where the scent of jasmine and mint hangs in the air. From the terraces, the whole of the Strait of Gibraltar unfolds before you.
Just below, the medina buzzes with life — the Petit Socco, the Grand Socco, souks of spice and silver, and centuries of Andalusian, Portuguese and Moroccan influence. Whether at dawn when the city wakes, or at dusk as the call to prayer echoes across the rooftops, the old city of Tangier leaves a lasting impression.
